  • 2nd Half of January
It was such a valuable experience in preparation for the Quick Draw on Jan. 24th that I decided to continue doing a daily 1 Hour Painting Study for the whole year.

  • 1st Half of February
I have been taking photographs for years of scenes that I would like to paint "someday." Now I can just have fun painting many of them in 1 hour.

They are not meant to be finished, polished paintings, but rather simple 1 hour studies from which to experiment and learn.

  • 1st Half of March
For me it's a whole new way to have fun painting. I should be keeping a journal of each one: what I had in mind painting that scene, what I learned or experienced while painting it, and what I learned afterwards from studying it.

  • 2nd Half of March
I had this panel of paintings up in Bozeman while visiting my family over Easter. I took the panel over to my Folks for my Mom's Birthday in late February for them to enjoy. I forgot to bring the usual flowers, so this became her Birthday Bouquet. Now I take every panel for them to see.

Daily 1 Hr Painting Studies 2008
I have embarked on a new journey to make a better painter this year. Sparked by my participation in the Jan. 24, 2008 "Quick Draw" event at the National Museum of Wildlife Art here in Jackson Hole, I started on Jan. 1st doing a daily 1 hour painting study. It was so valuable that I'm going to continue doing so through the whole year. They are not finished paintings, but quick studies. So far I've learned something from every one. Have fun........
